FAQs

How does music impact the guest experience in a hotel?

Music is a powerful tool to engage guests and create a desired experience, as it lifts their mood, evokes emotion and creates a positive, tailored atmosphere. When customers feel a certain way, it impacts their behaviour and spending patterns, therefore hotels need to make every effort that the overall experience is engaging and memorable, both on a tangible and intangible level.

Do different areas within a hotel need different playlists, or can the same music be played across the board?

Each space within a hotel is designed for its own unique purpose. The right music will have a positive impact on customer behaviour, retention rates, peoples’ moods and ultimately, the overall experience. Ambie believes that music needs to be geared towards the certain target audience a space is trying to attract, as different playlists can create very different results and transactional differences. When the same music is played within all areas concurrently, there’s no breaking up spaces and differentiating the reasons for being in each of them.

How does Ambie curate a music soundtrack for a hotel?

There are multiple steps when it comes to music curation for Ambie’s hotel customers which are very intricate. Firstly, the Curation Team gets to know the customer - brand values, USPs, customer demographics, trading patterns etc. Then Curation Team creates various on-brand playlists, as well as uses bespoke technology tools to fine-tune lists to prevent many track repeats, so Ambie’s curators can tweak the schedule or add more tracks accordingly.

How often should a hotel update its playlists?

Hotels should have multiple playlists at a time which are played in dedicated time slots. On average, every venue should have 5-7 playlists at a time with about 300-400 songs in each, which are updated on a monthly basis. It is advisable for 15-30% of each playlist to be updated and songs to be rotated.
